'Moiments' : Shakespeare's 12th Night

Okay, so I'm not your average logophile right but just wait on it. I mean I did well in my English literature and all but books are not usually bae... Although this is a hard fact of my life for some odd reason I've always loved Jane Austen. In all honesty I just love anything and everything period drama (I know it's a movie genre but it's the only way I can describe it),  it just appeals to me. There was a time in high school I'd said if I had to go back to any place in time it would be during Georgian society, just like in JA's novels. Everyone looked at me like 'wheeeettt'... So many literature un-lovers nowadays hey, looool...

Anyway less about that. This post is Shakespeare inspired. Another great, English based, literature legend! (<- alliteration, see I did learn something).

So late July I took a trip down to beautiful Oxford. It's such a cute place, especially when it's sunny! Amongst a hoard of other things I managed to find myself at an evening theatre performance of Shakespeare's 12th Night. Not only was paying for a ticket to go see an actual play something completely new to me but this specific play was outside...

In all honesty when I first walked in I had to tell myself to have an open mindset. This was completely new to me so I shouldn't have had a preconceived notion of what it would be like.

My overall opinion is that this was an absolutely awesome experience. The actors outdid themselves! A lot of them had to play more than one role and the way they approached it was so professional. I found myself imagining living as each of the characters; playing the role of Cesario, lady Olivia, Maria and the list goes on... I would one hundred percentage recommend people to go see more plays and not just in the theatre. Sometimes you just need to try something new and enjoy a play in the outdoors

Fun fact (according to Me, Truth): Did you know all the characters in 12th Night are the ones in the movie 'She's The Man' starring Amanda Bynnes. Same plot and errrthang... (Just with a better looking (Duke) Orsino )

'Moiments' : 'Waited' Opportunity

So we all know the phrase 'wasted opportunity' right, well let's talk hey...

So I realised that in my life I've done a lot of unnecessary waiting. I mean sometimes it's the best option, be patient and trust in God's planning. Other times God will give me something and I'll be like nah nah I don't see a massive arrow sign so it's not a God thing. Looooool I'm looking back now thinking if it was me I'd slap some sense into myself. Isn't it great to have such a patient God.

The best way I can describe this part of my journey is this. It's been like a snowball rolling down the side of a mountain and each time I didn't take advantage of what God had set before me the snowball got even bigger. I've missed out on so any great opportunities from work to minor BANTS to friendships. To me this snowball has hit a rock and crumbled to pieces.

As every person does I've been psycho analysing myself. Just like via Google people can diagnose themselves, through watching the way I act I can be my own psychologist right... In all honesty it boiled down to one thing, FEAR. Fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of not being good enough...

Well this is what I've got to say to you mate "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline" so to all lingering fear, I got a double edged sword fam. I'm at that point where every time I feel as though I'm about to hold myself back I start singing a song in my head. Recently it's been a loop of 'I'm no longer a slave to fear, for I am a child of God'<- gotta love Bethel hey. I would one hundred percent recommend this. Sing over your situations, speak scripture over them because it really DOES make a difference. Changing your mindset changes how you perceive things which changes how you approach different situations and therefore the outcome. So what it do!

(F)EAR -> don't listen to what/who society says you are, don't listen to what past experiences have labelled you because you know what. You have grown and you have learned and you're way closer to your destination than ever before.

'Moiments' : Momma I'm a model!

Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen, Tyra Banks... Metruth Kaselampao...
Loooool I'm actually joking but anyhooo let's carry on.

Being quite a creative person I've found that in life I'm naturally drawn to creative people. Give me a genre of creativeness and I'll give you a list of friends who do that... And are bossing it. No lie.

So a few months ago a friend approached dear old moi for her summer bridal campaign. It was an exciting experience for me, I mean usually I'm the one behind the one behind the camera; as in directing. I arrived at the location and someone was doing my hair whilst someone else did my makeup, it got me feeling some type of way. I could've got used to that you know. It was generally so much fun to be a part of, I even got to put my smize into action. Tyra would've been proud I tell yah.

So here's a sneak peek at some of my favourite photos from the campaign:

The energy and ora that exudes from people who actually love and have a deep passion for what they do is truly overwhelming. In short I'd just like to say:

DO WHAT YOU LOVE & LOVE WHAT YOU DO...

'Moiments': No??

How do I say no??

It sounds like such a silly question to ask right...

'No' is actually one of the first words we learn in the first years of life. I mean as a child it's probably the word you used the most; 'no that's mine', 'no I don't want that', 'no I don't want you to do that' and so forth and so forth... But somehow with age many people forget how to use it, me included.

There was a point in my life when no actually wasn't in my vocabulary. Now wait a minute wait a minute, this isn't me saying I was living a wild'n out kind of lifestyle. Only that if any of my friends asked me a favour the answer would always be yes. You could say I had the 'people pleaser' gene. This  led me to 'spreading myself too thin' and meant that with each task I completed it wasn't done to the best of my ability. -which always annoyed me, I hate things that aren't done properly *shivers*- As well as all that it meant that I was left worn out physically and you could even say emotionally. I ended up putting energy into more things than I could handle...

So how did I get over this... Not gonna lie I still have these tendencies but I'm more aware of it. At first I actually had to get trained because it really wasn't in my nature. Some friends would walk/talk me through certain situations. It's sounds super weird but you know, practice makes perfect right -loooool...

Anyhoo, a wii bit of waffling here but the main point is know what you can and cannot handle! If it's something you can't do don't be afraid to say no and definitely don't feel like you're dissapointing anyone. No one will hate you, -see what I did there with the no, no. Okay cool- so chill and only do what's in your depth.

Have a great May people!

'Moiments' : YA Movement 2015

Soooo.... This weekend I attended one of the best young adult conferences in life! -Pun intended loooool-

For me I see conferences as little booster packets, a top up kinda like when you're road tripping and you stop by the petrol station. I always leave more on fire, with more zeal, more expectant and ready to take on life and live fully and wholeheartedly for God and the call on my life. It's just how I roll...

One of the key points that has stuck with me throughout the conference was made by the guest speaker, Chad Veach ~ Zoe Church. He gave an analogy of setting up a fire and how it dwindles and ends up being a rumble of ashes if left unattended. See as Christians we go to meetings and experience great worship and teachings but what happens after, what happens when we leave the physical bounds of the church?? From this I learnt that if I don't 'feed' my spiritual life -read the word, Praise&Worship, devotion, podcasts- it'll end up like a this fire, burnt out and an ugly site. So what next... For me it's a decision to be more deliberate about reading my bible, listening to podcasts, my quite time etc. This way we can keep that 'fire' burning white and yellow...

I didn't want to ramble on in this post as "a picture is worth a thousand words" so here you go.... #YAMovenent #MVMNT2015 #LifeChurch

'Moiments' : What I'm drinking...

So after a bout of the common cold and a lot of exaggerating to my friends and family, on my part, I got into 'drinking healthily'. In all honesty I used to hate water, like with an actual passion. I never drank it but during this time I watched a lot of videos and read some blogs. I always knew the importance of having H20 in my diet but a reminder did me well. I re-learned how important it is to me, especially as a singer, to be kept highly hydrated..........

A few benefits of water, well known or not are:
* Maintains the body's fluid balance- it transports nutrients around your body and aids regulation in homeostasis...
* Weight loss- theoretically water gives you the feeling of fullness therefore you consume less food aka less calories. Side note: I do have some friends who drink water before a meal in order to reduce their food intake. Whether or not it works, ask me in a few months...
* Better skin- (and all the teens say AMEN!) water helps flush out toxins from your body which would otherwise create clogged pores leading to pimples or acne. Maybe subconsciously that's why I've been drinking more loooool...

THE RIGHT KIND OF HERBAL
I've also gotten into herbal teas. I'm a beginner in 'herbal tea loving' so it's all quit basic. Green tea, peppermint.... Hmmm peppermint and honey is the one! These, and more, offer 'natural healing'effects. Not only do they sooth symptoms of an upset stomach and insomnia but if you're stressed just take a nice sip and chill. I really do strongly advise brewing yourself a cup of herbal tea just before bed, it knocks you right out. Also, as these are caffeine free alternatives they are highly recommended especially for individuals with IBS. #FACT

LEMON&HONEY
A really good drink I found is lemon and honey. I have this probably every two day's either when I'm chilling with some friends or before bed. A little TMI here but having warm water with lemon and honey stimulates your digestive system. This mean you have a healthy 'flow' and it helps your colon and lymphatic system work at optimum levels.
Note: it's also good for weight loss.
See..... not only is it a lush taste but it's a natural remedy...

SMOOTHIES
I got onto the smoothie hype during my New Years resolution phase. You know those times when you think to yourself "Metruth, you haven't had fruits in you fridge for months", loooool. Well all that had to change and I found a creative way to do it. It's super simple to make, I mean even a Uni student can afford it... I usually use a range of FRESH fruits, natural Greek yorgurt, fruit juice and depending on how I feel I may use honey to sweeten. All you need to do is gather these ingredients together and blend. Wallah, you have yourself a simple but delicious creamy beverage!

'Moiments' : The Reason Was The Season!

Let me keep it short and sweet... or not, we'll see...

So, we've all been through this if you haven't then I strongly suggest you recheck your growth. We've all had those relationships that have broken down whether it be a friendship or 'relationship' type of relationship. It's something that you can't control but if they were really meant to be in your life then one way or another you will find yourselves together again.

There's a saying that God brings people into your life for a reason and that reason may be the season you're in. When that's done you may find yourself drifting apart or loosing what you had in common, it's not a problem it really just means that you're growing. You're growing in nature, maturity, character and generally just preparing for the next stage of life.

For me I have lots of friends from high school, sixth form and first year in university that are currently not in my immediate life. I mean I have them all on my social media and we may occasionally exchange a quick 'hey', a like or a comment but it definitely isn't how we started off. I'm not sad about it because when they were in my life we were great friends and made great memories. They taught me a lot about myself & life and for that I'm grateful but sometimes you've just got to let go of the past and move into your future wholeheartedly. Make room for the people in your now, in your new season. You never know, you may just end up meeting again in the future but you also need to give THEM time to grow...

I can genuinely say there are some people who I lost touch with before and we naturally found each other again. Don't struggle to hold onto something that's not meant for you, it's a waste of time and energy. Trust the God 'has your back' and He has placed the right people in your life in each moment to hold you down and turn down that crazy (leeuul)

If you find that you're straining yourself, having to step on eggshells or tip toeing around in your relationship well then mate, make that DOUBLE TAKE!

'Moiments': A Worship Experience!

Good morning-Good afternoon-Good evening (insert hug)... whatever time of day you're reading this... Now to some people this post will just be weird but hey, that's me!

I'd just like to talk about one of the greatest things you can do in life; worship.

#WORSHIP = the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.

It's an actual fact that we all worship someone or something. If you don't know what it is it's whatever 'burdens' your heart on a daily basis and takes centre stage in your life. See, the kind of worship that I'm talking about though is one for my God. If you haven't already noticed I AM a Christian and I DO BELIEVE in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! << I love saying that, what a great confession hey...

I love 'expressing reverence and adoration' whether I'm in church, in my room, cooking or merely taking a stroll to Sainsbury's. The thing is some people get confused and think that worshipping is just when the church band plays their set, a few years ago I was one of them, but it really isn't. Worship is your lifestyle, it's the way we live, we speak and how we see and approach life...

I really felt to write this post today- well I was always going to write a post on worship but I was waiting till the right time seen as it's such a big topic- but after last night it would be an actual crime not to... leuuul

So my church does these nights on a Friday that are aimed directly at young adults called YA, which I think is absolutely amazing! The praise set began and as a good Christian does I began jumping and getting all rowdy, a good kind, throwing my hands every place. It's biblical you know, Halal&Yadah praise that is... As we got deeper into worship I was there arms stretched wide, vocals swinging left to right and my tapping to the music was so on fleek. You know, completely going for it. Then it happened... an overwhelming feeling of God's greatness. I was immersed in a feeling of love, awe, wonder but all in stillness. -that's the best way I can describe it- Nothing else mattered in that moment but really just pressing in and thanking God for who He is, what He has done and just declaring His goodness. There was a great sense of His presence and let me just say that I was truly captivated.

-You see, moments like that is what I crave for everyday and it's easily found in worship. Times where there's no worry or fear and you can just be free and let loose... An inspiring verse for me on worship is John 4:23-24 << check it out, coz this is definitely the aim of the game!

This post may seem all over the place but I just needed to let someone know about an amazing experience I had in His presence! What kind of worship experiences have you had, I'd love to hear from you...

'Moiments': Music!

Side note: this was written early December...

Hello-hello-hellooooooo...

So today I felt the need to write a wii bit about music. I mean it's just sooo unexplainable. From the way the beat grips people to the way the words can touch a persons soul. It's just amazing right...

I initially thought of doing a video so I could play the songs but you see the way I'm set up, it's better when I write... (leeeul)

#ThePlaylist
I absolutely love to listen to awkward and quirky voices, there's just something about uniqueness in music. So people like Birdy, yaarss girl do your thang, just get to me. Absolutely beaut! As you move further down my playlist you'll also find Lucy Rose, James Vincent McMorrow, Ben Howard, Matt Corby, The Green.... there's actually too many people here! My number one, most favourite first love in music was actually The Intermission Project! Introduced to me by le brother, they are the alpha of my playlist. #Legends

There has also been some new additions to the playlist though... Starting with Mr Rayleigh Ritchie, he's not just a one trick pony you know. *In my head* After a long day of filming GOT he makes his way home, brews himself a lovely cup of Yorkshire tea and  relaxes by writing us a few verses -this is just my imagination, lets not take it as fact (sips tea). Secondly, we have Mr Michael Bird. Residing up north he is bringing that neo-soul electronic vibe to RnB so I'd definitely advise you to check him out especially with an upcoming EP! #newmusicalert  Lastly, we have what WILL turn out to be one of the biggest bands of 2015, Years and Years. I literally only heard one song before I fell in love with their sound. Definitely going to be seeing them in concert, and not just because they favourite'd my tweet #inwiththemusos

Now, in my day to day "let me get grounded"//meditation music I love listening to all things Bethel and all things Jesus culture. Hillsong, C3 and Elevation Worship are also on the ball with this! Their songs keep me focused, inspired and set me up for my day...  You know those times when you're just rolling through your day with positive thinking and excitement. It's just great right!

Album of the month: Wake Up The Wonder - Elevation Worship

What are you listening to... any suggestions??
Hope you're having a great day!

'Moiments': New Year New Name!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Whooop!!

This is the first time  I've ever  felt so expectant at the beginning of a year. I mean, yeah I'm always like this is gonna be my year, 'big tings are gwarnin' but there's something different this time. Excitement is instilled in me; in my body and in my spirit. This year is going be filled with great times and great adventures spiritually and physically... And by that I do mean lots of ventures abroad//road trips//exploring different cities. It's gonna be great!

So today was my first Sunday service of 2015, like many people around the world... and I've gotta say; >>The Word was perfect!<< It was so relevant to this particular time and just what was needed to start off an excellent year. The preach was all about the significance of naming. Well, we all know how important a name and it's meaning can be but for those who don't lemme just quickly give you my take. So for me a name is a predisposition of a person's life and character, it kinda describes the type of person someone will be...

The pastor spoke about the time God changed Abram's name to AbrahamGenesis if you wanna look that up, and how important that was. In his name change he was also given a promise, a covenant between God and Ab was made...
The meaning of Abraham is 'Father of many nations' ~can I just add that this man was like 99, comes before 100 & just after 98!~
The point here was that Abraham was GIVEN the name (pree the meaning) THEN he BECAME that name! Abraham later became a father; a father to offspring as plentiful as the stars...

~back to his age, this dude was old. No one at that time could ever believe that at his age he could have children. I mean can you imagine... but it happened! So side note: don't take yourself out of the game~

As a church we have all been encouraged to name our 2015 and to pray over that each day. Whether it may be wanting a joyfulpeaceful or adventurous year or maybe even giving something up i.e. if you drink one too many on occasions....
After naming your year you also have to become more active on making the name work for you. If you want a joyful year then sorry to tell you but you've got to cut off people who bring negative energy. You have to cultivate your environment with the things//people who are going to help you get to that place. Just like a baby in the womb is surrounded with the nutrients he//she needs to grow, you too have to feed the right things into your life in order to grow!

For me I chose a year of openness, amongst other things that is. I'll be working towards being more open to the people in my world and letting my walls//guards down. It's gonna take a LOT of work and prayer but I'm all for it!

What kind of year are you hoping for in 2015??

Peace - LOVE & all things sugary ✌️
